Listening to different types of mobile ringtones was once very popular among the younger generation. But over time, that is likely to change. A large part of the younger generation now prefers to keep their phones in silent mode.

Censor Tower, a UK-based mobile app analytics firm, has conducted a survey on why the younger generation has moved away from ringtone attraction.

The survey was named 'Generation Mute'. For the survey, the organization interviewed young people between the ages of 18 and 24.

According to the results of the survey, the number of rington downloads among the youth was 46 lakh in 2016 and in 2020 that number decreased to 36 lakh.

In 2004 this number was 4 crore. A 2016 survey found that only 15 percent of 18- to 24-year-olds think ringtones are needed for communication. But at present that number has also decreased.

According to the survey, the younger generation now uses e-mail and messaging methods to communicate. They like to make these contacts silently. As a result, they do not need loud sounds like ringtones on mobiles. That is why they are keeping their mobile phones silent.

Also the younger generation stays on the phone screen throughout a large part of the day. As a result, you can easily see what is coming on the phone. That is why they are keeping the phone silent without using ringtones.

At present, various types of apps including Messenger and WhatsApp are being used for communication. In that case the ringtone is no longer needed on the phone.
